Bürstner Lyseo shelf kit: which one fits my van?

Bürstner Lyseo shelf kit in Light Grey fitted above the kitchen

The quick answer: Bürstner changed the Lyseo seat base during 2023. Pull the back cushion forward and look at the metal frame under the headrest. If it's flat all the way across, you need our standard Lyseo kit. If there's a raised block in the middle where the seat belts come through, you need our 2023 onwards kit.

How the Lyseo shelf fits

Our Lyseo shelf sits across the divider between the kitchen and the seating, mounted on the headrest posts, and gives you a proper shelf above the worktop for a coffee machine, an air fryer, phones on charge or books. Because it mounts on the seat, the shape of the seat base underneath matters.

The two seat base frames

Older Lyseos have a seat base frame that's flat across the top. On the newer frame there's a raised block in the middle where the seat belts come through. Our 2023 onwards kit has spacers either side of that block, shorter upstands and shorter threaded rod, so the shelf still sits level.

How to check which one you've got

  1. Pull the back cushion of the seat forward.
  2. Look at the metal frame under the headrest.
  3. Flat all the way across means the standard kit. A raised block in the middle means the 2023 onwards kit.

That's the only reliable check. We've found the headrests look the same on older and newer vans, and it doesn't depend on whether the van is on a Fiat or a Mercedes chassis.

Why the year can catch you out

The change happened during 2023, so vans built that year could have either frame. On top of that, the year a van is registered isn't always the year it was built, and a van sold as a 2025 model can still have been built with the earlier parts. So please check the frame itself rather than going by the year.

TD or A-class?

On the 2023 onwards kit the upstand length depends on the type of van. Low-profile TD and coachbuilt models take 150mm upstands, and A-class models take 190mm upstands. Just choose your van type when you order.

Which shelf size?

The Slim Jim is 937 x 160mm, compact and neat, and good if you have a drop down bed and want to leave the shelf in place. The Wide Boy is 937 x 250mm, deeper and more useful day to day, with room for a coffee machine or an air fryer.

Which finish?

Both kits come in Cream with Verona Cherry, Lava Grey or Truffle Sonoma Oak edging to suit the Harmony Line interiors, and the 2023 onwards kit also comes in Light Grey with Light Grey edging to suit the B66. There's an optional gallery rail too. If you've the T727G, we make a separate kit for that layout.

Still not sure?

Send us a photo of your seating area and one of the seat base with the cushion pulled forward, to support@chippysworkshop.co.uk, and we'll tell you which kit you need.

Many thanks,
Keith (aka Chippy)
