We do! All of our table tops and shelf systems are manufactured in our Somerset workshop using CNC machinery and professional edging equipment. Every product is designed, machined, assembled, and finished by our small family-run team.
Yes, always. We use high-quality lightweight poplar plywood rather than MDF or chipboard, helping keep weight down while still being strong, durable, and well suited to life on the road.
Weight matters in campervans and motorhomes. Lightweight plywood helps reduce unnecessary weight without sacrificing strength, which is especially important in touring vehicles where every kilo counts. Why waste payload on furniture when it could be reserved for wine or beer? 🍷🍺
Yes. Our plywood is FSC certified, meaning the timber is sourced from responsibly managed forests.
Many of them are, yes. This allows us to offer a wider range of finishes, edging options, and vehicle-specific designs rather than just selling “one size fits all” products.
Most of our products are made to order, so lead times can vary depending on what’s being manufactured and how busy the workshop is at the time.
As a general guide, lead times are usually around 5–20 working days. Current lead times are normally shown on the product page.
If you need something urgently for an upcoming trip, feel free to get in touch, we’ll always do our best to help where possible.
The delivery speed you select applies once production is complete.
Most of our products are custom-made to order, so the courier service chosen at checkout refers to the shipping time after your item has been manufactured and dispatched from the workshop.
Yes, you’re very welcome to collect your order from our Taunton workshop.
Please select standard delivery at checkout and, if you decide to collect instead, we’ll simply refund the delivery charge when you arrive.
In many cases, yes. Because we manufacture in-house, we can often tweak dimensions, edging, cut-outs, or layouts to better suit your vehicle or requirements.
If you’ve got an idea, feel free to ask, we genuinely enjoy unusual projects.
Absolutely. Some of our favourite projects have started as a rough sketch on paper or a cardboard template posted to us!
We can offer a wide range of laminate finishes and edging options, and we’re always happy to help you find the closest possible match to your existing interior, although bespoke colour matching may involve an additional cost.
That said, we often find that using a neutral surface colour with a contrasting ABS edging gives a cleaner, more premium feel, and is usually kinder on the wallet too.
Our laminate surfaces are water-resistant and the edges are sealed, making them well suited to everyday campervan and motorhome use.
However, they’re not designed to be fully submerged in water, so we’d always recommend wiping up spills promptly to help preserve the finish and appearance over time.
Yes. Many of our shelf systems are designed around specific motorhome layouts and model years to ensure the best possible fit.
If we don’t currently make a kit for your particular motorhome, please do get in touch. We often offer discounts in return for customers helping us develop new kits for the website, so your motorhome might end up becoming our next template vehicle!
If your vehicle matches the listed model and layout, they should fit correctly. If you’re unsure, just send us a few photos of your interior and we’ll happily advise before you order.
No drilling or screwing into your motorhome is required for our shelf kits. We design our products so they can be removed later and the vehicle returned back to standard condition, which is important for resale value and peace of mind.
The only screws involved are normally used to assemble the shelf kit itself.
Our shelf systems are designed as storage accessories for use when the vehicle is stationary.
We recommend removing the shelf before travelling and refitting the vehicle's original headrests where applicable. The owner is responsible for ensuring compliance with the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations and all applicable road safety regulations.
As vehicle designs, seating arrangements and regulations can vary between manufacturers and model years, we are unable to advise on the suitability of any shelf system for use whilst the vehicle is in motion. If you are unsure, please consult your vehicle handbook or contact the vehicle manufacturer directly.
Yes, fitting guidance is supplied where needed, usually either as a PDF download or a link to a YouTube installation video on the product listing.
If you’re ever unsure about anything, just get in touch, we’re always happy to help.
Usually not. Most products can be installed with basic hand tools and straightforward DIY skills.
Definitely. Our table tops are specifically designed for campervan and motorhome use, with a focus on weight, durability, and everyday practicality.
Our table tops are commonly used with systems such as Sequoia, MOD, Cypress, and other popular campervan and motorhome table leg systems.
The Radix tripod is our own folding support tripod designed to help stabilise freestanding campervan and motorhome tables. It folds flat for storage and works with several popular table leg systems.
Yes. Many of our products are used in both factory-built motorhomes and self-build campervan conversions.
We do. Alongside retail customers, we also supply converters, workshops, and motorhome businesses.
Yes, we regularly ship many of our products internationally. Shipping costs and lead times will vary depending on location.
Of course. If you have questions about compatibility, measurements, finishes, or installation, feel free to get in touch before ordering. We’d much rather help you choose the right product first time round.
Yes, Chippy’s Workshop is a family-run business established in 2012, built around practical products, good customer service, and a genuine love of campervans and motorhomes.
Keith, the owner of Chippy’s Workshop, is a time-served cabinet maker and carpenter/joiner with over 30 years of experience working with wood and furniture manufacturing, so this isn’t just a business, it’s a trade and passion that’s been built up over decades.
We focus on lightweight plywood construction, in-house manufacturing, vehicle-specific designs, and practical real-world usability. Because we manufacture everything ourselves, we can also offer a level of flexibility and customisation that’s difficult to achieve with off-the-shelf products.
And honestly, we simply care about making products we’d be happy using in our own vehicles.
